Didn't the NBA Season Just End?

Is it just me or was there anyone else not really ready for the Warriors' season to begin? Last year's bitter "best team to never make the playoffs" coupled with Boom Dizzle leaving had me in a rut at the start of the summer, then Monta's ankle exploded, then Monta Lied about how is ankle exploded (Mopedgate) and got suspended for 30 games, the front office not on the same page with and still clashing with Mully and Nellie, and finally Big Al Harrington saying that he wants a trade prior to opening night. For the Warriors fans, re-selling themselves on the team has been a tough sell since 1993 save for the 2006 season and last year. Three games into the season I have finally sold myself again. Here is why...

Reason 1) Corey Maggette is on my fantasy team

After my fantasy draft, I had still was barely intrigued that Maggette was on the Warriors. After all, the Davis-Maggette switch-a-roo is not in any way a fair player swap. Maggette can score and has been a nasty athlete since he was a freshman playing for "one shot-outlet-dunk" Duke in 2000. That being said, duing his NBA career he's lacked the leadership, defensive heart, and selflessness to be a great player. Where, Baron, on the other hand found a home in Oakland where the Warriors brought out those feature that made him a near elite point guard and team leader. The fact that Maggette is on my fantasy team has lessened the pain of the Warriors getting a ball-hog and me-first player as their new go-to-guy. This may be shallow but his 20.0 PPG and 8.0 RPG so far this season have been more than enough to make me happy in fantasy land. Plus, the fact that playing Nellie ball should up his PPG to potentially 23-24 PPG, the Corey Maggette era in Oakland may look good after all. (Note, I give the Maggette honeymoon one year. Next year if the Warriors don't make some personnel moves that point them in the playoff direction I don't care if he averages 30-8-6. Not that I have written off the team, just all the drama so early in the season has run me ragged.)

Reason 2) Andris Biedrins is due for a breakout year

If AB can stay out of foul trouble then he will be good for 15 and 12 a game. His downside, he averages a foul every 7 minutes, which is no wonder why Nellie cuts his minutes. Move your feet Andris, PLEASE! Additionally, this guy is a lock for 60%from the field, meaning he takes good shots. This is the most underrated factor of his game, given that he plays in the "no shot is a bad shot" Nellie ball offense. His good shot selection means that he doesn't steal shots, which keeps the Captain Jack's and Maggettes of the world happy. As long as he gets 35 minutes a game I would not be surprised to see him get some serious all-star consideration. Again, please move your feet on defense Andris.

Reason 3) Off the Map Factor

With all the turmoil so far in Warrior land most of the experts across the land have counted the Warriors out this year. Similar to the 2006 season when they ended the 13year playoff drought. The teams needs to capitalize on the "Off the Map Factor" early so that they can get a foothold in the playoff race. If the Warriors can hang around .500 until the all-star break they may have a shot. By then Monta should be back in the flow of the system, they will have gotten David Lee or a solid veteran point guard for Al Harrington, and they capitalize on their post all-star break schedule when six of their first ten games are against the Thunder (Stolen Mascot Rivalry), Clippers, Bobcats, T-Wolves, Bucks, and Nets. The Warriors should beat all of these teams, plus their two toughest games during this stretch are at home against the Lakers and Jazz. These games could be a springboard to a playoff run if they get hot and by the time that teams figure out the Warriors are for real, it will be playoff time.

GSW have plenty of OTM factor going for them. They always put together a rag tag team of ballers, but can never provide the glue to solidify a serious contender. Hopefully this team of rookies can find some footing and get their zen on the court in check. Maybe Andris will grow a set and not settle for mediocrity and a liberal locker room. War Sacto Kings and our empty bag of W's.
